State: Client is seeking a contract Legacy COBOL Software Engineer to support ongoing initiatives within our legacy systems team. The ideal candidate will bring strong technical expertise in COBOL-based environments and the ability to work effectively in a collaborative, Agile setting.Preferred/Required Skills and Experience:
- Proficiency in AS400 COBOL with DB2
- Experience with IBM Green Screens for backend processing
- Familiarity with DJDE and Automatic Rate Loading (ARL) tools
- Strong SQL skills for data handling and integration
- Exposure to Java (WebSphere and Tomcat) for hybrid system support
- Knowledge of CGI Ratabse (Rating Engine), Jasper Reports, Jrebel, and iText for reporting and document generation
- Experience with both Personal Lines (PLO) and Commercial Lines (CPS) applications
- Agile methodology experience preferred
- Property & Casualty (P&C) insurance domain experience preferred.
This contractor will be expected to contribute to the maintenance and enhancement of legacy applications (PLO and CPS), collaborate with cross-functional teams including underwriting and agent-facing teams, and support modernization efforts where applicable.
